About Ogaan

Ogaan is a Sanskrit word meaning “the energy that provides for growth and expansion in all things.”

The roots of Ogaan began six years ago when Michael was using a brand name balm for one of his clients and ran out. He looked over the ingredients in the product and realized that for the last 18 years he had been using products with his bare hands that were primarily made with petroleum-based ingredients as well as oils that he didn’t know the origins or quality of.

After doing some research, he found out that there are varying levels of quality for oils and that most of the time the cheaper they got, the more likely they were to be chemically-based synthetic reproductions.

It was at that point that Michael thought making a high-quality and all-naturally sourced warming balm would be great for him and his clients and not that hard to make.

Boy was he wrong… He waded through numerous goopy and granular concoctions for two years—he had no idea about the challenges he would be face making products without artificial additives.

After experimenting with different formulations for quite some time, he finally created a product that he can feel good about using on his hands and his client’s bodies.

All of his products contain ingredients that come directly from nature, not a synthetic copy of it, and they are processed minimally without any synthetic additives or chemicals in the process.

His goal is to continually improve on his products. Much like the name Ogaan reflects, growing and expanding his practice over time. He is always finding new ways to use feedback from people to improve his work, expanding his vision for what Ogaan can be.

Michael currently creates products, runs his massage business and makes messes in Portland, Oregon.
